Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a comprehensive, six-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. They became the second finalist of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, and will be taking on Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) on Sunday. Playing in the second qualifier here, MI opted to bowl first. Riding on impressive bowling from leg-spinner Karn Sharma, MI bundled out KKR for a paltry total of 107. Karn, in his four overs, gave away just 16 runs and took four important wickets of Sunil Narine, Gautam Gambhir, Ishank Jaggi and Colin de Grandhomme. Apart from Karn, pacer Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets in his three overs giving away a mere 7 runs. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), IPL 10, Qualifier 2
After receiving the Man of the Match award, Karn said, “This was an important game for the team as we had to qualify for the final, so I just tried to get wickets for my team and bowl them out quickly.” Karn has been in brilliant form this season. His consistent form has made him the lynchpin of the two-time IPL winners MI. “It’s a good thing that I am helping out the team.”
Karn has taken 13 wickets in 8 games, taking over the role of lead spinner from veteran Harbhajan Singh. Earlier, he played for reigning champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2016. He was purchased by MI for INR 4.2 crores. FULL UPDATES FROM QUALIFIER 2
