IPL 2017: Rahul Tripathi and other fastest 50s for Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS)

Rahul Tripathi broke the record which was held by his RPS teammate Ajinkya Rahane, who had earlier smashed the fifty in just 27 balls on April 6, 2017.

Indian uncapped opener Rahul Tripathi, who is currently playing for Steve Smith’s Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, on Wednesday smashed the fastest half-century for his side, in just 23 balls. He achieved the feat during match 41 of IPL 2017 against former 2-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), at the historic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. He broke the record which was held by his teammate Ajinkya Rahane, who had earlier smashed the fifty in just 27 balls on April 6, 2017, against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI). At No.3 is their former skipper MS Dhoni, who smashed it in 29 balls on 22 April, 2017, against the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Earlier on Wednesday, Rising Pune Supergiant were powered by Tripathi’s onslaught. Tripathi, who ended up making 93 off 52 balls, was adjudged the Man of the Match for his batting. So far in IPL 10, Tripathi has been a revelation for the Pune-based franchise, making 352 runs in 9 games. Tripathi, in the post-match presentation, said that he was happy with his show tonight with the bat. He also added that he was unhappy with not being able to convert his starts in earlier games. “I enjoyed my batting today. I was getting good starts, but was not able to convert it. Happy that my team won today. I’m just trying to middle the ball, trying to concentrate on the wicket and not on the outside. I’m happy that I’m able to do well. I’m just watching the ball, hitting and it is coming off well,” Tripathi explained.
