Having earned decent success so far by playing for Steven Smith’s Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has not yet given up hopes for his chances in the Indian side. Tiwary said that he was happy with his team’s performance, following a four-wicket win over two- time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), in match 41 of the IPL 2017 at the historic Eden Gardens Stadium on Wednesday. With the win, Pune also rose to the third spot in the table. Full cricket scorecard: KKR vs RPS, IPL 2017, Match 41 at Eden Gardens

“It was a very important win for us because we were at No. 4, and we knew that if we win this game, we will come ahead to the third spot. So obviously, it was at the back of our head that we should win this game. And it’s important, because they are such a strong side. They have got a very good balance as a team, and it was a great game for us to win, because now they will realise that there is a team, whom we meet again in the knockouts, they will have the feeling that we beat them,” said Tiwary during the post-match press conference. Tiwary cherished the opportunity of homecoming and he was happy with the crowd support at his home ground. “Every win is very important and sweet. IPL is such a big platform where you want to cherish all your winning moments, and the way we have played as a team, obviously we want to cherish that. It is a professional world, and I was a part for KKR for four years, and I had a very good time here. I had contributed for KKR, but now I am playing for other team. And when I play for any other team, I have to be loyal for them and give 100 per cent commitment to them. So, with every win, I am going to be very happy as other players and I will cherish it. It is not always that we play in front of 60,000 people. It’s very good to see the crowds came in, and like I said previously, there will be a 50-50 crowd support, and that’s what happened,” he added.

Speaking on his chances of making a comeback to the Indian side, he said, “I am still looking to make a comeback in the Indian team. The hard work and the preparation that I have done before coming to IPL, the performances and the score which I have scored are all for making a comeback, and I believe that. I just want to bank on the Ranji Trophy performances along with the IPL and make a strong case again. I have got the experience and I have played international cricket. It’s just that I have to be among runs in the knockout stages as well, and rest is up to the selectors, as obviously I want to play for India again.”
