IPL 2017: When Unadkat fulfilled 12-year–old’s wish by taking hat-trick against SRH

In the 44th match of 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat‘s picked hat-trick. His hat-trick helped RPS secure a crucial win over the defending champions SRH but very few are aware of the fact that it was 12-year-old kid’s wish behind Unadkat’s hat-trick. RPS skipper Steven Smith along with Faf du Plessis and Unadkat had visited a school in Pune on April 28 for a function, where a 12-year-old kid Omkar Pawar suggested Unadkat to bowl cross seam and slower deliveries to get wickets which could help him to get a hat-trick as well. It maybe a mere coincidence but a few days later, Unadkat took a hat-trick against SRH in the final over of the match. SRH needed 12 runs to win in the last over but Unadkat’s maiden hat-trick spoiled the opponent’s hope of victory. RPS won the match by 12 runs as it was a wicket-maiden, and Unadkat hat-trick included the wickets of Bipul Sharma, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, which helped him register his second five-wicket haul in IPL.
Later on, Unadkat went ahead and posted a video from his official Instagram account of the kid advising him on his bowling and signalling that he did not take his advice lightly.
After the match, Unadkat credited slower deliveries for taking a hat-trick as well as a 5-for. RPS have two matches left in the league stage of the tournament. They will next play against Delhi Daredevils and then Kings XI Punjab.
