Injured Delhi Daredevils (DD) skipper Zaheer Khan is likely to sit out of his franchise’s next game as well in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 edition. DD, after their spirited victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will like to come hard against Gujarat Lions (GL) at the Ferozshah Kotla on Thursday, but will miss their skipper’s services due to injury. The veteran pacer has missed the last two clashes due to hamstring problem and Karun Nair is leading in his absence. “We will continue to monitor Zaheer Khan on a day-to-day basis. There is no further update,” stated the team’s official spokesperson on the eve of DD’s clash versus GL. Zaheer suffered a hamstring strain during the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on April 28. He was seen warming the benches during DD’s outrageous show against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Sunday. DD succumbed to their lowest IPL total folding for 67 against Glenn Maxwell’s side.
Nonetheless, while chasing 186 against SRH, DD did not falter and emerged victorious in 19.1 overs. Mohammed Shami and Corey Anderson were the star performers and they will like to move in same stead on Thursday. With the race for the playoff spot tightening, DD cannot afford to lose more games and will have to pull up their socks in absence of Zaheer. The 38-year-old recently got engaged to beau and Bollywood actress Sagarika Ghatge.
