Under new captain Shreyas Iyer, Delhi Daredevils (DD) were off to rollicking start. They won the second game of the VIVO IPL 2018 after three consecutive losses. They thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 55 runs. Gautam Gambhir was surprisingly left out. However, Iyer clarified that it was Gambhir’s decision to stay out. DD rode on Iyer’s 40-ball 33 to gain 2 more points and climb to the seventh spot from the last position.
DD were given the platform courtesy Prithvi Shaw’s 44-ball 62. Colin Munro, too, assisted the youngster with his 18-ball 33 to put up a 59-run opening partnership. Iyer and Glenn Maxwell then sealed the innings to take their side to 2019. DD responded well with Maxwell, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan and Amith Mishra scalping two wickets each. For KKR, it was only Shubman Gill and Andre Russell who kept their innings alive. Shivam Mavi was taken to the cleaners by Iyer as he ended with figures of 4-0-58-1.
