Fighting for a spot in the Playoffs, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finished on 245 for 6 from 20 overs against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Holkar Stadium, Indore in Match 44 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. This is KKR’s highest score in IPL history: their previous highest was 222 for 3, against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the first match in IPL history, back in 2008. This was also the highest score of IPL 2018, comfortably beating Delhi Daredevils’ 219 for 4 against KKR at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.

This was also the highest IPL score against KXIP. The previous best was 240 for 5, by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Mohali, back in 2008. IPL debutant Javon Philip Ramon Scantlebury-Searles hit a six off the first ball he faced in the tournament to take KKR past CSK’s total.
KKR also broke RCB and CSK’s monopoly of big scores. Before today, the top five scores in IPL history were shared by RCB (thrice) and CSK (today). KKR made an entry to the top five today.
Of the KKR batsmen, only two — Chris Lynn (159) and Robin Uthappa (141) — had strike rates under 200. Shubman Gill was the only one to not hit a six — but then, he scored 16 in 8 balls despite that. On the other hand, every single KXIP bowler went for at least 10 an over, but surprisingly no one went for above 16.
