It was in the match 4 of Vivo IPL 2018 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) that a seven ball over was bowled and it went unnoticed by umpires and players. It was in the 12th over when Ben Laughlin  was given the ball as he bowled seven balls in an over. Fortunately, the match wasn’t a close encounter or else this would have led to a controversy.

According to reports in mid-day, it is learnt that the match referee was instructed to have a talk with the umpires to be more attentive during matches to avoid these mistakes. ”These things do happen sometimes but still the T20 chairman has spoken to match referees and asked them to speak to the umpires,” a source close to Rajiv Shukla said.

Apart from this incident there times when over the height no-balls were ignored. The umpires are even instructed to use technology if needed to avoid such errors.
