IPL Latest Updates, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders: Sunrisers steamroll Knight Riders by nine wickets
Both Sunrisers Hyderabad and KKR are at 8 points each

4, 6 and 6: ALL OVER! Jonny Bairstow finishes off in style as Sunrisers Hyderabad steamroll Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets and five overs remaining. With that, KKR have slumped to their fifth straight defeat.

End of Over 14: Narine bowls out, finishes with none for 34. Williamson and Bairstow taking it easy, just milking singles. Not many runs left to knock off.

End of Over 13: OUT! Finally. After two drop catches, Yarra Prithviraj finally gets his much-deserved maiden IPL wicket as he cleans up David Warner. He deserves that wicket. He had a second catch dropped off his bowling earlier in the over and he takes it upon himself to get the wicket.

End of Over 12: Another DROP! Oh dear, what is happening to the Knight Riders tonight? Harry Gurney spills this one, looked totally lost. He positioned himself to take this upper edge from Bairstow but by the time the ball landed, it made Gurney look completely out of position. To add to KKR’s woes, Bairstow smokes 1o off the next two balls. Sunrisers 130 without loss.

End of Over 11: Yarra Prithviraj returns for his second over and doesn’t fare that bad. Five singles off that over.

End of Over 10: Sunrisers are cruising at the moment. Both Warner and Bairstow bring up their respective half-centuries, off 28 balls, to put the chase on track. It’s smooth sailing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they reach 109 without loss.

End of Over 9: It goes from bad to worse for Cariappa as Bairstow and Warner cream another 14-run over. Boy, what a forgettable debut it’s turning out for him. The 100 comes up for the Sunrisers inside nine overs, the fourth time that Warner and Bairstow have forged a century-plus stand this season.

End of Over 8: It doesn’t matter who it is. Sunrisers Hyderabad are on the mission of finishing this one. Chawla takes a pounding now with Bairstow bludgeoning him for a SIX. They’re 88 without loss.

End of Over 7: Andre Russell into the attack and Bairstow helps himself to another boundary. Loose ball on the hips and the wicketkeeper batsmen whips it towards deep dquare leg. That Russell is not 100 percent is visible in his bowling. Sunrisers 80 without loss.

End of Over 6: The Powerplay is done with and Sunrisers Hyderabad have rocketed to 72 without loss after an expensive first over from KC Cariappa. After putting Bairstow down earlier in the field, Cariappa is taken by Warner for SIX, FOUR and FOUR. Sunrisers take 20 off that over.

End of Over 5: Sunil Narine into the attack and Warner welcomes him by rocking onto the backfoot and pulling him disdainfully over midwicket. Absolutely hammered. Sunrisers cruising at 52 without loss.

End of Over 4: Enter Piyush Chawla and the legspinner is greeted with a slog sweep from Bairstow which despite not coming from the middle of the bat, resulted in a boundary. He went for it again, and connected it way better for a SIX. 11 off the over as Sunrisers progress to 43 without loss.

End of Over 3: Warner clobbers a slower delivery over the infield for a boundary, followed by four singles and a double. Sunrisers 32 without loss.

End of Over 2: Debutant Prithvi Raj starts his maiden IPL over, who runs into David Warner and gets greeted with a SIX over long-on. And guess what? He could have had his first wicket had KC Cariappa not spilled an easy chance at deep point as the ball bounces into the boundary. Unfortunate start for Raj. To cap it off, Bairstow pulls the final ball to the boundary. Sunrisers enjoy a 16-run over to reach 22 without loss.

End of Over 1: Harry Gurney bowls a tidy over. Sunrisers knock off six runs off the first over.

Sunrisers innings underway…

So 159 is what KKR manage against the Sunrisers. Not a par total on this surface but they’d believe they can defend this. Sunil Narine provided an explosive start but despite Chris Lynn scoring a half-century, the runs were tough to come by. Even Andre Russell couldn’t do much except tonking a couple of sixes. Khaleel was the pick of the Sunrisers bowlers claiming 3 for 33 while Bhuvneshwar picked up 2 for 35. Can SRH chase this? Join us soon for the second innings.

End of the innings: A couple of important blows in that over from that over takes KKR to 159 for 8.

End of Over 19: OUT! And it’s the big wicket of Andre Russell that goes down. He smoked Bhuvneshwar Kumar for two sixes but holed out at deep midwicket going for a third. This is big for SRH. KKR 144 for 7 with one to go.

End of Over 18: What an over. After a single taken by Russell, Rashid bowls five dot balls to Piyush Chawla to ensure that Russell has to wait till the next over to farm strike. KKR 134 for 6. Just one off it. Splendid!

End of Over 17: OUT! Chris Lynn gets to his fifty off 45 balls but falls two balls later. It’s been one of the more patient innings from him as KKR lose their sixth wicket for 133.

End of Over 16: OUT! Rinku Singh smokes a six over deep midwicket to bring up the 50-run partnership between him and Chris Lynn. However, he finds the fielder in the deep the next ball. Enter Andre Russell. Four overs remain, KKR 125 for 5.

End of Over 15: Rinku Singh starts off with a cracking boundary but apart from that, Bhuvneshwar gives nothing away. Five overs left, and KKR are 116 for 4. Have they held Andre Russell too far back?

End of Over 14: Excellent stuff from Khaleel to take the pace off the ball and tie down Lynn. A couple of wides to start with, Khaleel keeps Lynn and Rana to singles. KKR 109 for 4 after 14 and in need for a move on.

End of Over 13: The 100 comes up for KKR after another tidy over from Rashid. 103 for 4.

End of Over 12: DROPPED! And it’s the simplest of catches put down by Shahbaz Nadeem at deep cover. Sandeep Sharma is not impressed. What more? The ball bumps off his hands and lands for a SIX.

End of Over 11: Nadeem bowls out as KKR reach 85 for 4. After an expensive first over, the left-arm spinner came back well to finish with none for 30.

End of Over 10: Rashid Khan starts off in his typical style. A double and three singles in that over takes KKR to 80 for 4. Chris Lynn stuck on 31 off 29 and giving him company is Rinku Singh.

End of Over 9: GONE! Dinesh Karthik run out. He isn’t lucky this time around. Hesitant to go for the run, Karthik goes for it after all and is short of the crease by quite some distance despite putting in the dive. Stares back at his partner and fumes off the ground. Not what KKR wanted as they slip to 75 for 4.

End of Over 8: EDGED and TAKEN! Bhuvneshwar takes out Nitish Rana after faint edge from the batsman landed in Jonny Bairstow’s gloves. Meanwhile, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik was almost run-out first ball but struck a boundary to settle nerves. KKR 71 for 3.

End of Over 7: Just four singles off that over from Shahbaz Nadeem. KKR 65 for 2.

End of Over 6: Nitish Rana gets off a mark with a silken cover drive for a boundary. Sloppy work from Shahbaz Nadeem, who looked in two minds about putting in the dive. Sandeep keeps it tight otherwise, bowling on Lynn’s pads and keeping the Australia batsman quiet. A couple of runs via overthrow to cap off the over. Powerplay done, KKR 61 for 2.

End of Over 5: OUT! Two for Khaleel. Shubman Gill drives the ball straight to Vijay Shankar at backward point. The slower ball once again does the trick for Khaleel and Sunrisers. Angling across and Gill leans it for the drive, takes the edge and straight to Shankar. KKR 53 for 2.

End of Over 4: Finally, SRH bowl a disciplined over. Sandeep Sharma, in his first over, gives away just four singles. KKR 49 without loss.

End of Over 3: Knocked him over! Sunil Narine clubbed Khaleel Ahmed for a SIX, FOUR and FOUR, but the left-armer came back strong to fox the batsman with a slower one and clean him up. Narine once again has done the job at the top. A lovely cameo of 25 off just 8 balls. KKR 44 for 1.

End of Over 2: Expensive start from Shahbaz Nadeem, who concedes two sixes and a boundary as KKR collect 18 off that over. Wonderful start by KKR to each 28 without loss.

End of Over 1: KKR off the mark in fine form. A couple of boundaries to set the tone – one each to Lynn and Narine as the score moves to 10 without loss. Bhuvneshwar just losing his line towards the end there.

And we’re just a couple of minutes away from the start of play. Bhuvneshwar has the new ball and facing him will be the dangerous pair of Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine. Who will trump? Let’s find out…

Captain’s Corner

Dinesh Karthik: Now that we have lost the toss, we have to make the most of it when we bat first. We have made three changes to the team. Those players will bring breathe of fresh air to the team. As a captain, you have to stand up in the big games.

Kane Williamson: We are looking to have a bowl. First day game (after a long time), so slight change and one the guys are looking forward to it. They probably feel the same (on winning the game). Everyone wants to win but we had a good last game. So we will look to get on a roll from that. The guys at the top are going great.
