IPL 2019, RCB vs KKR: Virat Kohli second Indian to 8000 T20 runs
Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli became only the second Indian player to score 8000 T20 runs during Match 17 of the IPL 2109 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Friday.

Starting his innings 17 short of the landmark, Kohli got to 8K runs with his tenth ball of the innings. (FOLLOW SCORE: RCB vs KKR)

Raina was the first Indian player to 8K milestone, earlier in the year while playing for his state side Uttar Pradesh in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in his 300th match.

Raina is now second with 8110 runs in 306 matches. Kohli got to the landmark in his 257th match.

Off Kohli’s 8000 runs, almost one-third of the runs have came for his IPL franchise RCB in 183 matches, the team he has represented since 2008. While, 2263 runs has come for India at an average of 50.28 in 67 matches. He has played five T20 games for his state side Delhi and two as part of touring Indian teams, combining to score 270 runs.

Kohli has a total of 56 half-centuries to his name in the format with 20 coming for India and 36 for RCB. All of his four T20 centuries has also come while playing for RCB.

Kohli’s former RCB teammate Chris Gayle is highest run-getter in the format with 12457 runs at 39.05 in 374 matches and still remains the only player with over 10,000 runs in the format. Second in the list is New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum with 9922 runs in 370 matches, while West Indian Kieron Pollard is third with 9087 runs in 463 matches.

Shoaib Malik of Pakistan and Australia’s David Warner are fourth and fifth with 8701 and 8365 runs, respectively. Kohli is seventh on the list.

Raina is at sixth while Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is eighth and is 98 runs away from the 8K milestone.
