It was an all-round show from Chennai Super Kings on a wicket conducive to spinners as they outclassed the visiting Kings XI Punjab at Chepauk for a 22-run win and climb up to the top spot in the IPL points table. Faf du Plessis starred with the bat, hitting a half-century before MS Dhoni scored some quick runs in the end to help CSK to 160/3. Spinners then tied down KXIP batsmen and despite fifties from opener KL Rahul and middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan, they were kept to 138/5 in 20 overs.
