In a recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), newly-appointed GT skipper Shubman Gill faced a moment of indecision during the toss. Gill, playing his second game as captain, initially chose to bat after winning the toss but quickly changed his decision, opting to field instead.
Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar described it as a challenging moment for the young captain, likening it to a baptism by fire. Gill’s decision reversal came in the rematch of the IPL 2023 final against CSK, with GT aiming to make an impact against the defending champions.

On the other hand, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad confirmed the return of Matheesha Pathirana to their lineup, emphasizing the team’s intent to bounce back after a rusty start against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
