Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured the top position in the points table following their thrilling 2-run victory over the Chennai Super Kings in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League.
The match witnessed some brilliant batting at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, with Virat Kohli continuing his impressive form as he scored his sixth half-century of the season, laying the foundation for his team.
CSK’s youngster Ayush Mhatre smashed 94 off 48 deliveries, including five sixes and nine fours, while Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 77 off 45 balls, featuring eight fours and two sixes, went in vain as CSK was unable to chase down the total. Chasing a target of 214, Chennai fell short by 2 runs, ending their innings at 211/5 in 20 overs. For RCB, Lungi Ngidi delivered an impressive four-over spell, taking 3 wickets and conceding just 30 runs.
Following their victory, RCB climbed to the top of the points table with 16 points from 11 matches. Mumbai Indians rank second with 14 points in 11 matches, ahead of Gujarat Titans, who also have 14 points from 10 matches, having won 7 of them.
