Beuran Hendricks has been bought by Kings XI Punjab for INR 1.8 crores on Day Two of the IPL 7 auction.
There was a lot of speculation regarding the Cape Cobras’ southpaw who has already earned a reputation for swinging the ball at a rapid pace. He had claimed 28 wickets in the recently concluded Ram Slam T20 Challenge where nobody else had managed more than 16.
Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils started the bid at breakneck pace. Mumbai Indians backed out when the price reached INR 65 lakhs, at which time Kings XI Punjab joined in. The price increased rapidly — but eventually Gary Kirsten relented as Kings XI Punjab pipped them to claim Hendricks for Rs 1.8 crores.
