IPL 9 (2016): Heath Streak roped in as bowling coach for Gujarat Lions

Following a sensible marketing during the just-concluded IPL Auction 2016, one of the newest franchises in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL), the Gujarat Lions have roped in former Zimbabwe skipper, Heath Streak as their bowling head coach for the upcoming ninth season of the IPL. Streak, who was a former Zimbabwean seamer is also the present bowling coach of the Bangladesh national team, and in what seems to be not an exclusive contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), he cannot be barred by the national board from taking the similar job role, as was reported by espncricinfo.com on Tuesday.
Streak has been a highly successful as his role of the bowling coach. He was appointed as the bowling head coach of Bangladesh in May 2014, and ever since, the teams has been highly successful, especially in the One-Day International (ODI) format, as the results have improved massively for the team, that included a fair performance in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, and they also fared well in the bilateral series against India, Pakistan and South Africa. Also, the upcoming seamers for Bangladesh in the form of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain have developed into one of the highly talented seamers under his guidance.
Although Streak’s contracted is slated for 450 days with Bangladesh, his contract is set to run out by June 2016. He prepares himself to join Brad Hodge, who is the head coach of the Lions, while the side will be led by one-off India’s charismatic batsman, Suresh Raina.
