Ishant Sharma went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 auctions on Monday. He was the last player to be up for the auction in the pacers section in the morning session with a base price of INR 2 crores. Ishant, who has been the spearhead of the Indian pace attack for some time now, could not attract any buyer. Ishant had earlier represented Deccan Chargers (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), while his last season was with the (then) new franchise Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). Before Ishant, there were names like Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins and Tymal Mills, all of whom were acquired for significant sums for their respective IPL contracts. And when Ishant was up for the grabs for a second time after lunch, but went unsold again. IPL Auction 2017: Tymal Mills roped in by RCB for INR 12 crores

Kagiso Rabada, who had a base price of INR 1 crore, had a bidding going on for him between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Delhi Daredevils (DD). He was finally bought by DD for INR 5 crores. An interesting bid was of Tymal Mills. Mills, who impressed one and all with his bowling in the recent franchise-based T20 leagues, was in high demand. He had a base price of INR 50 lakhs but was sold for INR 12 crores to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Mills has been one of the costliest buys of the season so far. Pat Cummins was picked by DD for INR 4.5 crores.

Playing for RPS, Ishant’s run in the 2016 season was not as impressive as expected. He took 3 wickets playing in 4 matches. In his IPL career, he has bagged 59 wickets in total.
