Axar Patel has fetched the highest price by capped Indian cricketer during the early exchanges of the 2019 IPL player auction in Jaipur, going to the rechristened franchise Delhi Capitals for Rs 5 crore from a base price of Rs 1 crore.

With both Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab, Axar’s former franchise, expected to go big in the auction, a bidding war ensued for the Indian allrounder. The left-arm spin bowling all-rounder sparked huge interest from KXIP and Capitals, who engaged fiercely until the Delhi-based franchise won his services.
