Two Indian Premier League teams might have played the final of the Champions League Twenty20 2013 final. However, India has not done well in international T20. Former cricketers states that it is because it is the presence of foreign players which has been the reason of the Indian sides doing well in CLT20.

“The reason is simple. Our eleven players are not as good as the eleven of other teams,” former coach Ashuman Gaekwad was quoted as saying by Times of India.

The T20 league in India is followed widely around the world. Out of five CLT20, Indian teams have won the title thrice.

India won the inaugural T20 World in 2007. However, after that there has been much development. India are currently ranked third in the ICC T20 team ranking.

Former India wicketkeeper and selector Kiran More said, “Our teams have done well in Champions League but we should not forget the contributions of the foreigners in all these performances. Same goes for the IPL.”

“Any team that has a good bowling attack will always do well in T20. On many occasions, matches are decided in a matter of just one over. So, I won’t like to say that our team lacks anything. We have a pretty decent side and it’s a matter of how well they play on a given day.”

However, both of them believe that the exposure under-19 and First-Class cricketers get in the Indian Premier League will help the fortunes of the national team later.
