The video of MS Dhoni and Irfan Pathan’s mix up while running between the wickets that got Pathan run out in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 match was apparently brought down from YouTube and IPL website soon after the match. The commentators were heard blaming an aggressive Dhoni, who seemed to have forced Pathan to complete the run even when fielder Piyush Chawla already had the ball and had thrown at the wicketkeeper’s end. The incident happened during the match between Rising Pune Supergiants and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens earlier in the week. Pune who posted 103 in 17.4 overs eventually lost the fixture to the home side by 8 wickets according to Duckworth Lewis (D/L) method. It was the second delivery of the 14th over, Dhoni pushed the ball towards the point ran straight away without even seeing Chawla was right there to collect it. On the other end, Pathan began his ran as well but froze just when he saw Chawla throwing the ball to the keeper. However, Dhoni by then was half way down and an angry Dhoni jumped and in frustration yelled at Pathan to finish the run. Or rather, sacrifice his wicket if that could be said. Dhoni remained unbeaten before the rain stopped the play but was not at his bets on that particular day. He scored just 8 runs off 22 balls. Former Kings XI Punjab skipper George Bailey top-scored in Pune’s first innings with a 27-ball 33. His knock was inclusive of see boundaries and a six.
