It was a beautiful day at Nelson and William Porterfield won an important toss and asked the Windies to bat first. The team from Carribean started the innings cautiously. Both openers, Smith and Chris Gayle took their time early against the Irish new Ball bowlers, John Mooney and Max Sorensen, who bowled in good areas.
