India Under-19 team skipper Ishan Kishan is on cloud nine with two reasons — his team’s performance in the ongoing ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016 in Bangladesh, and the second being his selection in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016.   In the IPL 2016 auction, which took place on Saturday at Bangalore, Kishan was picked by the new team of this season Gujarat Lions for Rs 35 lakh. This season of IPL will witness many young and budding players making their debut. Kishan’s team mate Rishabh Pant will also be making debut this season as he will be playing for Delhi Daredevils and was bid for Rs 1.9 crores. In conversation with ESPNcricinfo, Kishan was elighted on getting a chance to play in IPL 9, and said, “I found out only after the match. But I’m not thinking much about it because it’s a kind of distraction and the mind gets diverted so just concentrating on the World Cup right now. An IPL contract at this age means a lot to a player, it gives a lot of happiness. You get confidence from it that you have to prove yourself in the World Cup so that people think that you’ve been picked for the right reasons.” READ: Gujarat Lions (GL) team in IPL 2016: Lions have bases covered ahead of IPL 9

When he heard about his team mate being part of IPL as well he added, “It’s a World Cup going on and semi-final is coming up so we are not seeing it individually that who got what in IPL. A lot of careers are yet to be made so we are trying to do our best in the World Cup.”
