Led by skipper Ishan Kishan’s brilliant century, India Under 19 team registered a massive 372-run victory against Canada Under19 team in the warm-up match of ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup at Savar. The Indian team started off exceptionally well as they scored their team 50 within 5 initial overs. Boundaries and sixes kept on coming regularly and Opener Rishabh Pant along with skipper and opener Ishan Kishan provided India the start they needed. Canada bowlers were completely outwitted and opening pair brought up India’s 100 in 9.4 overs. Rain of boundaries continued and both the batsmen kept on hammering the Canada bowlers. Pant got to his 50 in 29 balls and Ishan Kishan from the other end kept his nerves and held the innings together. Pant put up a 113-run 1st wicket partnership with Kishan before getting dismissed scoring 62 off 37, with 5 fours and 5 huge sixes. From there onwards, it was an Ishan Kishan show. Kishan went on to score 138 off 86, hitting 16 fours and 7 huge sixes in the process. Meanwhile, Canada bowlers picked up an important wicket as India U19’s No 3 batsman Washington Sundar departed without contributing much. Kishan retired hurt and left the work behind for Ricky Bhui who took care of it properly. Bhui started hitting boundaries as soon as he took the crease and got to his fifty off 36 deliveries, hitting six fours and 2 sixes.
Ricky Bhui scored his century and soon retired after scoring 115 off 71 deliveries while Sarfaraz Khan scored 36-ball 48 before retiring. Another mentionable contribution came from Mahipal Lomror who added 55 runs facing 23 deliveries and India’s score totalled to 485/3 after their 50 overs.
The bowlers could not do much for Canada as only three bowlers, Abraash Khan, Harsh Thaker, Abdul Haseeb took a wicket each.
Coming out to bat, Canada lost two early wickets as Sarbot Sivia and Arslan Khan departed within the first two overs without scoring much. The highest scorer for the team was Harsh Thaker who scored 25 off 30 balls. Canada kept on losing wickets in quick succession as their innings came to an end with only 113 runs losing all 10 wickets.
For India, bowlers also impressed as Shubham Mavi took two early wickets making things even more complicated for Canada who were chasing a mammoth total already. Another brilliant spell came from Mahipal Lomror who took 3 wickets for 19 runs.
