Ishant Sharma is set to be appointed vice-captain of India according to Bhuvneshwar Kumar‘s official Facebook page. Ishant Sharma has played 61 Tests for India and has picked up 187 wickets. After Dhoni’s departure from Tests, Ishant now becomes India’s most experienced player. Ishant, lately has come under severe criricism for not bowling as well as he could in the ongoing Test series against Australia. Ishant however has had a decent 2014 as he picked up 38 wickets.

The entire cricketing fraternity was shocked after MS Dhoni announced his retirement from Tests after a draw at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Virat Kohli therefore became India’s 32nd Test captain. Dhoni claims the stress of playing all three formats got to him and he did not wish to play Tests anymore, but is committed to captain the side in the shorter formats of the game. Dhoni will lead India in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2015, starting from February 14.
