Ishant Sharma, Dhammika Prasad, Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne have been charged by the match referee of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct following an altercation that took place in the final session of Day Four of the third Test between India and Sri Lanka at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), Colombo. The first two Tests saw some engaging cricket, with India and Sri Lanka winning one match each. With the series level 1-1 and temperatures rising, Day Four of the third and final Test saw sparks fly. The altercation began when Dhammika started bowling bouncers at Ishant, who kept ducking beneath them. Dhammika started staring down Ishant, who responded with glares of his own. Though it did not appear that any words were exchanged initially, while taking a run Ishant started tapping his helmet with his own hand as if to mock Dhammika’s inability to hit him. After that incident, the Sri Lankan fielders got involved. Chandimal brushed past Ishant with their shoulders brushing, while Thirimanne started saying something to Ishant before Ravichandran Ashwin, the non-striker at the time, asked the umpires to intervene.
