Royal Challengers Bangalore explosive batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan said that his side needed two of the frontline batsmen to get big score if they had to successfully chase the 215-run target set by South Australia Redbacks.

“A fantastic win for us. After they got 214, we knew that the score was gettable if two guys got in. And that’s exactly what happened,” Dilshan said.

Dilshan slammed 74 runs off 49 balls studded with nine boundaries and two sixes to lead his team to victory.

“I had a good knock. Virat [Kohli] and I tried to enjoy [our] batting in the middle. [We knew] if one of us batted for about 16 or 17 overs, the target was gettable. That was the plan in the dressing room,” he said.

The Sri Lanka skipper said the Royal Challengers were not perturbed with the early loss of opener Chris Gayle, “In the first five overs we got about 50-60 runs and we were left with about 160 to get. I knew we were capable [of getting the runs] given the batting line-up we have. We bat deep… up to seven or eight. We just tried to enjoy batting and tried to drag the game till the last over.”

Talking about his experience in playing in Bengaluru, Dilshan said, “Fantastic atmosphere. I really enjoy playing in Bengaluru. (It was a) very good pitch. (In) 40 overs, we’ve scored more than 430 runs… amazing wicket.”
