Pacer James Anderson hit 81 runs from 130 balls against India, surpassing former bowler John Snow‘s unbeaten score of 59 to become the highest scorer in an innings at the number 11 position for England. The rearguard knock, which contained a record 17 fours, is currently the third-highest score in test cricket for that batting position. The Lancashire lad came to the crease at a time when England were looking to concede a major deficit to India. The duo of Anderson and Joe Root went on to add198 runs for the final wicket, breaking the 163-run record previously held by Ashton Agar and Phillip Hughes, interestingly at the same venue last year.
