Jason Gillespie on Tuesday said the tainted Pakistani trio involved in spot-fixing, should be banned for life.

Pakistan players Salman Butt, Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif were jailed for their role in the in the scandal.

“Butt and Asif have been found guilty of a criminal offence in the UK and need to be punished. Anything less than life bans for them would be an injustice.”

Butt was sentenced two and a half years prison and Asif for one year after they were found guilty of agreeing to bowl pre-arranged no” balls during the Lord’s Test against England in the summer of 2010.

Before the trial at Southwark crown court, both were banned from cricket by an International Cricket Council tribunal for five years. The teenage bowler Aamer received a lesser custodial sentence of six months for his part in the case.

The Former Australian pacer is set to be will be unveiled as Yorkshire’s new first-team coach at Headingley on Tuesday.
