Earlier, the 58-year-old had urged Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) to stop asking BCCI for resuming the bilateral series following ICC secretary Anurag Thakur’s remark that one cannot expect a cricket series amidst rising terrorist activities. According to the MoU signed between PCB and BCCI, both countries are scheduled to play six series in the 2015-2023 Future Tours Programme, but all were subject to clearance from New Delhi. India have not played a full bilateral Test series with Pakistan after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Javed Miandad had earlier said that the inflammatory statements given by Indian leaders and ministers were most unfortunate. He was also unhappy with PCB’s decision to recall banned trio of Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt, Mohammad Aamer. He had said that the trio should not be allowed to play cricket at any level in spite of serving out their punishment.
