India women‘s promising batswoman Jemimah Rodrigues has been signed up Kia Super League franchise Yorkshire Diamonds for the 2019 season. The 18-year old Rodrigues, who made her T20I debut in February last year, is the third Indian player to feature in the league after Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur.

In the 25 Twenty20 Internationals, Rodrigues has scored 608 runs. She registered her highest score of 72 against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland in February this year. She was also included in BCCI’s Women’s T20 Challenge in May, where she played for Supernovas and ended up with 123 runs.

The Mumbai teenager, who made her ODI debut in March 2018 at Vadodara against Australia women, found her name in the Indian squad on the back of a fine domestic season where she accumulated 1013 runs at an average of 112.56 in the inter-state Under-19 tournament.

Yorkshire Diamonds finished fifth in the 2018 season with three wins to their name.
