Explosive batsman Jesse Ryder, who was banned for the third ODI against South Africa for breaking protocols, will not lose New Zealand Cricket contract.
Ryder and all-rounder Doug Bracewell were suspended for the third and final ODI against South Africa in Auckland on Saturday, after they breached team protocols by drinking while recovering from injury after their loss in the second match.
New Zealand team manager Mike Sandle said on Friday that 27-year-old Ryder had breached an internal team protocol but not the players’ code of conduct, according to reports.
“We are really disappointed as a team that they were out there drinking alcohol and compromising their position and their preparation for the next game,” Sandle said.
“It was internal team protocols that were breached and not a code of conduct (breach) and it has been dealt with in that manner.
“The previous breaches were code of conduct issues and this is simply a team-enforced drinking protocol.”

Sandle also informed that left-handed batsman Ryder won’t be considered for the first Test against South Africa, which will be played at Dunedin.
