Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered an impressive bowling performance at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and handed Rajsthan Royals their fifth consecutive defeat in the ongoing IPL 2025.
Josh Hazelwood bowled a brilliant four-over spell, conceding only seven runs and taking three wickets combined in the 17th and 19th overs. Hazlewood, who ended with four wickets, delivered key breakthroughs by dismissing Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel. The dismissal of Jurel was especially significant, as the in-form wicketkeeper appeared to be in dangerous rhythm.
With RR requiring 17 runs from 10 balls, Hazlewood delivered a perfect wide yorker that initially appeared to be a harmless dot. However, sensing a possible edge, the RCB players opted for a review, which revealed that Jurel had indeed under-edged the ball after it pitched, confirming Jitesh Sharma’s catch behind the stumps was legal.
Hazlewood praised Jitesh for his game awareness under pressure, recognizing the opportunity for a crucial wicket that could shift the momentum in RCB’s favour.
“The thing is, Jitesh again, he’s a genius. He’s done a few for me now over the tournament, one in Mumbai, an LBW, and that one tonight,” explained Hazlewood as he became the second highest wicket-taker in IPL 2025
Jitesh Sharma was on spot behind the wicket as he caught a crucial throw before streching back towards the stump to run out Wanindu Hasranga, helping RCB win by 11-runs.
