“Joe Burns, the 23-year-old Queensland batsman, has been placed on standby for Adam Voges for the T20I at the Gabba on Wednesday. Joe has shown impressive form throughout this season, was deservedly awarded the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award at the Allan Border Medal, and his good form has also resulted in selection for Australia A against the England Lions in their five-match series starting this Saturday,” national selector John Inverarity said in a statement released Monday.
