Joe Root became the fifth fastest England cricketer to reach 2,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) en route to scoring a match-winning century against New Zealand in the fourth ODI at Trent Bridge. Root is behind the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Alastair Cook, and Marcus Trescothick.
