Former England cricketer Jonathan Trott recently shared his memories of the Ashes 2013-14 and called Australia’s Mitchell Johnson his ‘executioner’. Australia dominated the series thoroughly winning all the five Tests. Johnson topped the bowlers’ chart with 37 wickets from five matches. Trott, on the other hand, was carrying a very good form against Australia but pulled out of the series following the series-opener at Brisbane due to stress issues. Trott failed to score in the match, getting out for 10 in the first innings and 9 in the second. England went on to lose the match by a margin of 381 runs as a result of combined underplay.
Talking about the match, Trott told cricket.com.au, “I felt I was being led out to face the firing squad by the time we reached Brisbane. I was a condemned man. Helpless, blindfolded and handcuffed. Mitchell Johnson was to be my executioner. And they know I’m struggling. They’re circled like hyenas round a dying zebra.”

However, Trott said he does not hold any bad feelings. “One day, I’d like to shake him by the hand and say, ‘Well bowled’. I don’t bear him an ounce of resentment. Test cricket is meant to be hard and he was admirably ruthless,” said the batsman.
England currently hold the Ashes trophy as they won the latest season of the tournament.
