Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood has found his way to the New South Wales (NSW) Blues squad for the upcoming Matador One-Day Cup Competition after being rested by the selectors from the tour of Bangladesh. Hazlewood finds a spot in the place along with veteran all-rounder Shane Watson, who recently retired from Tests, with the former facing a busy summer schedule ahead of him after five gruelling Tests during the Ashes 2015. The NSW side will be captained by Moises Henriques, who recovered from a dangerous jaw injury and returned to competitive cricket earlier this month, and will also feature the likes of Doug Bollinger, Sean Abbott, Gurinder Sandhu, Ed Cowan among others, according to a report on ESPNCricinfo. Both Hazlewood and Watson were part of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015-winning Australian side, and were later picked for the 2015 edition of the Ashes, in which their side were handed a 2-3 defeat to surrender the urn to their arch-rivals. Hazlewood was in good form during the five-Test series, taking 16 wickets at an average of 25.75 and an economy of 3.67. The right-arm pacer was especially destructive in the second Test at Lord’s, in which he recorded match figures of 5 for 88 as England slumped to a 405-run defeat. Watson, on the other hand, was dropped after playing the first Test at Cardiff, following which he announced his retirement from the format shortly after.
New South Wales Blues squad: Moises Henriques (c), Sean Abbott, Doug Bollinger, Ryan Carters, Ed Cowan, Ryan Gibson, Chris Green, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Lalor, Nic Maddinson, Kurtis Patterson, Ben Rohrer, Gurinder Sandhu, Shane Watson.
