Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered an embarassing five-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Despite winning matches in Chepauk, Wankhede, Eden Garden and Sawai Mansingh Stadium, RCB has lost three consecutive games on their own home ground.
The match between RCB and PBKS was reduced to 14 overs due to rain. RCB started their innings on a disappointing note as they managed to score only 95 runs losing 9 wickets, which was chased by PBKS easily. Things could have been worse for RCB, but thanks to Tim David who scored an impressive 50 off just 26 balls.
RCB’s star pacer Josh Hazlewood commented on the team’s home performance, describing them as slow to learners, “Yeah, it’s obviously three in a row now at home. It’s just we’ve probably been a bit slow on the learnings from the first two games and didn’t put that into practice as well as we could have, probably in those first probably six to eight overs, obviously, with the score the way it was,” Josh said during the post-match press conference.
However, the South Africa pacer remained confident in his team’s ability to break the frustrating pattern as soon as possible. “But we’ll dive into this game and, you know, probably more so when we get back to Bangalore and really go through in detail and with a fine tooth comb and come up with a few ideas of where we can learn and improve.” Josh said
“I think the bowling definitely improved from the last two outings. So sort of we’re slowly getting there, but probably not quick enough,” he added
