Injured Pakistani pace bowler Junaid Khan has been given a clean chit of health following concerns that he would not be fit enough to play the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand starting February 14. Pakistan will face New Zealand in two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) before the start of the World Cup.

According to sources, Junaid’s MRI scan came out to be normal, thereby enabling him to travel with the Pakistan squad to New Zealand where they will play the two ODIs. Earlier, PTI reported that although team officials were quick to insist his fitness issue was not a major problem and he would resume training tomorrow but concerns remain over whether the pacer has suffered a recurrence of the knee problem that kept him out of cricket since last September. Junaid recovered from a knee problem only recently to lead his provincial Khyber Pakhtunkhawa team to the Pentangular Cup title in Karachi taking five wickets in the final.
