‘Just trying to…’: GT director Vikram Solanki speaks about Shubman Gill’s back spasm

The director of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans (GT), Vikram Solanki has stated that Shubman Gill is recovering from back spasm, but is going to be closely monitored.

Vikram Solanki, the director of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) has stated that their skipper Shubman Gill is currently recovering from a back spasm, but his fitness is going to be monitored carefully ahead of their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Shubman Gill did not come to field during the Rajasthan Royals innings on April 28, to which he revealed during the post match presentation that he was facing some back spasms. Pacer Ishant Sharma was brought in as his substitute. Rashid Khan was the player who stood in as captain in that match.

(On sitting out in the second innings) Felt a little back spasm in my back and we have a game couple of days after this, so the physio didn’t want to take a chance,” said Gill during the post-match presentation.

Solanki said that there were some back spasms, but they are trying to be careful with them as to not make the injury any further. He even stated being confident on Gill being fine.

His fitness, there was a bit of a back spasm. We’re just trying to be careful with it. He’ll be at training today. We’ll just see where he’s at. We’re reasonably confident that he’s going to be OK,” said Solanki

Speaking about Gujarat Titans, they played their last match against Rajasthan Royals on April 20, where they lost by 8 wickets. They are currently at the fourth place in the points table with 6 victories (12 points) out of 9 matches, and have their next clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 2nd May.

If Gujarat Titans manage to win their upcoming clash against SRH, they will have 14 points to their name, and will go up a couple places and be on the higher side in the table.
