Justice Mudgal: Former deputy CAG will look into tender process for DDCA

Justice Mudgal says a former Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) will make sure the tendering process is fair.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court appointed observer Justice (Retd) Mukul Mudgal today said that a former Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) will look after the tender process for the fourth cricket Test between India and South Africa starting next month. “All the tenders that will be issued for the Test match will be verified independently by a former Deputy CAG. In order to make the process fair and transparent, all tender documents will be checked and scrutinised by Deputy CAG,” Justice Mudgal told media persons after meeting DDCA EC members. Asked about who is the former Deputy CAG, Mudgal said: “We will not like to name him.” ALSO READ:DDCA hard to be denied a Test match

It has been decided to issue short tenders for various services to be provided for the forthcoming test match. The short tenders are for — In stadia rights, Transport, Catering + Pouring rights, Security + Baggage scanner, Housekeeping, Walkie talkies and PA System and Tent. Earlier, The South Delhi Municipal Corporation  said that sports body DDCA has paid a major portion of the property tax due to it, one of the issues that had raised doubts over holding of the India-South Africa test match at Ferozshah Kotla stadium. SDMC mayor Subhash Arya said the civic body does not want to deprive the cricket-loving people of Delhi of the opportunity to enjoy the match and it’s welcoming that Delhi and District Cricket Association has started to resolve the issue. “They (DDCA) had something over Rs 6 crore due to us (SDMC) in property tax, out of which they have paid about Rs 5 crore.The rest they said, they will be able to pay after the match,” Arya told PTI.
