Kane Williamson scored a gutsy half-century for New Zealand against Sri Lanka in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 inaugural game at Christchurch. This was his 13th half-century in last 17 games. It was a cold and windy morning at Christchurch and Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews won and important toss and as expected he invited New Zealand to bat first. Lasith Malinga, who was injured prior to the World Cup and missed quite few matches, was included in the playing eleven of Sri Lanka for this opening encounter. The team management have decide to drop Thisara Perera and Dinesh Chandimal.
