Kapil Dev praises Virat Kohli for his knock in Champions Trophy semifinal: Compares with MS Dhoni

Kapil Dev hailed Virat Kohli in a recent interaction, praising Kohli's ability to take up a challenge and having the talent to guide the team towards victory

Former Indian captain Kapil Dev praised star batter Virat Kohli for his ‘unmatched’ temperament as he scored a match-winning knock against Australia in the semifinal of the Champions Trophy 2025. Kohli stood up to the expectations, and to the ‘chase master’ tag that he has been given by fans, as he smashed 84 runs to help India complete their target of 265 in Dubai.

In a recent interaction, Kapil Dev hailed Kohli, stating that Kohli has the temperament to take up a challenge, something that a very few cricketers have. Kapil even compared Kohli to MS Dhoni, stating that the former is one step ahead of others.

“I think he has the temperament to take up a bigger challenge, and that is where he gets the energy. He likes to play like that and very few cricketers have that temperament. But end of the day, he has the talent and the class on how to win matches. We know Dhoni used to do that, but Kohli is one step ahead of anybody else,” Kapil Dev told India Today.

Coming to Champions Trophy 2025, India came out from Group A as the table-toppers, and will be going to face New Zealand in the final match of the tournament on March 9 in Dubai.
