Karaikudi Kaalai will be going up against Ruby Kanchi Warriors in Match 28 of Tamil Nadu Premier League 2016 at the Indian Cement Company Ground, Tirunelveli. In what is a do-or-die situation for the Karaikudi Kaalai’s they will have to win this match with a big margin to make it into the play offs of the TNPL 2016. Kaalai’s are currently tied at six points with Albert Tuti Patriots and LYCA Kovai Kings but have a lower net run-rate in comparison. But other two teams have played total of seven matches while the Kaalai’s will play their seventh match of the tournament today. The Warriors are officially out of the tournament as they lost four matches out of their six matches played so far. They are second from the bottom with just four points from their two wins. They would be hoping to play a spoil sport for the Kaalai’s with a win today as their win will diminish Kaalai’s challenge from the series.
They had a good chance to seal their spot in the top four in their last match against Dindigul Dragons, but the Kaalai’s defeat has added more pressure on them and a lot will be expected from them as they performed well in TNPL so far. A lot depends on all-rounder R Rajkumar as he has been instrumental in various matches so far. Sonu Yadav too has been very influential in his four overs as he has been very effective in restricting the oppositions to a low total.
Kaalai’s will also be hoping to make use of the experience of captain Subramanium Badrinath as hs role in today’s game will be the one to lookout for.
For the Warriors, things never really took off as their team has lacked the cohesiveness factor since the starting of TNPL 2016. Openers Bharath Shankar and Nilesh Subramanian gave their team the much needed start on various occasions but that was never enough as the next players did not do any wonders.
J Kousik and M Prabhu have been good with their bowling effort as they have given their team the much needed breakthroughs right from the first match. But the Warriors have had the tendency to let the game go off their hands after making the initial breakthroughs.
So today it is very likely that we are going to have one cracker of a game as one side will be battling out for getting their place in the top four while the other team will look to bow out of the tournament with some win in their hand.
