DD had won the toss and put RR in to bat on a wicket with a bit for the seam bowlers. DD accordingly made a change as they brought in Gurinder Sandhu in place of Imran Tahir. RR also made changes as James Faulkner returned and so did Rajat Bhatia. Rusty Theron and Ankit Sharma were dropped.
