Former Indian cricket team skipper Sourav Ganguly met 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi following Rajasthan Royals’ defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Sunday. Vaibhav, who had scored a century against Gujarat Titans, failed to deliver with the bat this time, managing only four runs while chasing a massive target of 206.

According to reports by Sangbad Pratidin, Ganguly met RR skipper Sanju Samson and head coach Rahul Dravid, before catching up with Vaibhav. Ganguly gave a prep talk while looking at his bat, “I have seen your game. Keep playing the way you play fearless cricket. There is no need to change the game,” he said according to the report.

Rajasthan Royals skipper admitted that he miscalculated the chase, which cost them the match. Kolkata Knight Riders pulled off a thrilling 1-run victory. Riyan Parag played a brilliant innings, scoring 95 off just 45 balls with eight sixes and six fours, but couldn’t see the team through as RR fell just one run short of the target.

“I was just too sad about myself getting out. Probably a miscalculation from my side, I should have finished it. I think we could have found better options in the last six overs. I think they were 120 or 130 and our spinners did really well and maybe we could have cut down their runs, but the game was in our hands. We should have finished this,” Parag said in the post-match presentation.
