Kenyan captain Jimmy Kamande won the toss and elected to bat first in their Group A World Cup match against New Zealand at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.
New Zealand would go into the match without Kyle Mills and would play two frontline seamers Tim Southee and Hamish Bennett.
