England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow has said that it is disappointing for him that he would not play again in the team with Kevin Pietersen, who was sacked following the team’s 5-0 Ashes whitewash in Australia in the winter.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) unveiled Peter Moores as the new head coach last week and England managing director Paul Downton said there is no chance the batsman will ever be recalled as he had become ‘disengaged’ during the Ashes tour.
According to the BBC, Bairstow said that Pietersen is a ‘fantastic’ player who could change a game on his own, adding that he is one of the best players in the world scene.
Stating that it was a great pleasure to play with the controversial South Africa-born player, Bairstow also said that he is disappointed at not being able to play with Pietersen again, although he believes the team can move forward from the ECB decision and go from ‘strength to strength.’
