The British media on Thursday tore into Andrew Strauss and England Cricket Board (ECB) following the controversial Kevin Pietersen snub. Pietersen, who scored a majestic 355 not out for Surrey against Leicestershire mere days ago, was widely considered to be back in national reckoning, especially after former England coach Peter Moores vacated the position. Journalist and close Pietersen confidante Piers Morgan tweeted a picture with the headline England’s Cowardly Buffoons (ECB), and said that Strauss, Alastair Cook, and Colin Graves were “slaughtered” over the whole incident. Support for Pietersen was not limited to the British media either. Even former Indian star Rahul Dravid voiced his support for Pietersen. “I think it is disappointing. He [Kevin Pietersen] is a terrific player. The episode has put a lot of pressure on [Alastair] Cook and [Andrew] Strauss. If England win the Ashes, there will be no questions. But if they lose, it will be tough,” Dravid said at an event at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai on Thursday. READ: Kevin Pietersen’s exclusion from England squad will not make a difference
