England discard Kevin Pietersen has reportedly appealed for an official England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) inquiry in the alleged involvement of James Anderson and Graeme Swann in the parody Twitter account on his name.
According to SportsPulse, this development is set to prolong and complicate talks between Pietersen and the ECB, which were supposed to be held soon.
Pietersen has declared that the talks must be centralised on the parody account, which he sees as the central issue in the saga.
Earlier, former News of the World editor Piers Morgan hinted that some of the England players could be behind the parody Twitter account, named ‘KP Genius’ which mocked the star batsman.
Morgan on his account tweeted that Pietersen’s team-mates Stuart Broad and Swann had connections with the parody account – ‘KP Genius’ which had angered Pietersen.
He tweeted, “I wonder if @Bailsthebadger knows anything about that KP parody account? He is, after all, close pals with several top England cricketers.
The Twitter account @KevPietersen24 was a spoof account, also known as KP Genius disseminating funny tweets such as, “We’ve lost 5 Tests this year and to be honest, KP doesn’t want to be associated with a team full of losers. Read into that what you will.”
The account belonged to one Richard Bailey, and poked fun at Pietersen’s conceitedness and attitude and was even been followed by members of the English team.
A fake account on the social networking site Twitter on the name of Pietersen, acting as his parody, has been removed from the site.
According to the reports in media on Wednesday, Pietersen believed some of his team-mates were behind the account, which poked fun at the 32-year-old.
The BBC reported that England team denied having any involvement with the account.
Pietersen quit one-day internationals in May. On Monday he said he may retire from Tests and there are “points I’m trying to sort in the dressing room”, the report added.
