Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard were recently involved in an on-field clash in IPL 2016. The West Indian cricketers were playing for their IPL franchises Gujarat Lions (GL) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in an important match when Bravo while bowling, walked up to Pollard who was batting at the other end. Things didn’t turn ugly though and the Caribbean teammates were quick to silence rumors of them being enemies off-the-pitch. The duo reached to their followers on Twitter, showing their love and friendship for each other. Meanwhile, Bravo was fined 50 per cent of his match fee for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct. Also, Bravo along with West Indies teammates Chris Gayle and Darren Sammy was not picked by selectors for the tri-series against Australia and South Africa. What Bravo and his teammates found amusing was that Pollard was selected in spite of not being a part of the ODI team since 2015. The trio of Bravo, Gayle and Sammy questioned the WICB’s criteria for selection and targeted the the board in a series of tweets. However, another surprise omission from the squad was Andre Russell. All the four players omitted were a part of the West Indies T20 squad that won the World Cup in India.
Meanwhile, Bravo’s IPL team Gujarat Lions have qualified with the top-spot for the IPL playoffs and will go head-to-head against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) while Pollard’s IPL franchise Mumbai Indians failed to qualify for the playoffs and ended up on the 5th position after playing 14 matches.
