Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 33 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium, Mohali. SRH have won four out of their eight matches and have nine points on the board, whereas KXIP have won three out of their seven matches and have six points so far. These two teams met earlier in the season as well. It was SRH, who emerged on top by just five runs after Bhuvneshwar Kumar ripped apart KXIP s batting line-up, finishing with figures of 5 for 19. A win for both teams is crucial as it will take them closer to a top-four finish, which is priority at the moment. Full Cricket Scorecard, Kings XI Punjab vs Sunirsers Hyderabad, IPL 2017, Match 33

After losing four matches in a row, KXIP bounced back with a thumping 26-run win in their previous match against Gujarat Lions (GL). Hashim Amla followed up his century against Mumbai Indians (MI) with a brilliant 40-ball 65. Valuable contributions from Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell and Akshar Patel with the bat took KXIP to a competitive total. Their bowlers too put up a collective effort to restrict a strong GL batting line-up. SRH s previous match was against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), which was washed out.

SRH have had a mixed season so far. They have never managed to win three games in a row as they still have not been able to figure out the right combination.

Based on their performance in their previous match, it does not seem like KXIP need to make many changes. Although they were handed a major boost when Daren Sammy joined the squad few days back. He could be drafted into the side directly, which would give KXIP a major boost. Marcus Stoinis has been largely inconsistent so far and he could be the one, who paves way for Sammy. KXIP are boosted by Amla s good form at the top and it would not be wise to make any changes to the top-order, which consists of Amla, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell and Manan Vohra. Akshar Patel is turning out to be a handy all-rounder. His form with the bat has been encouraging and his performances with the ball have not been bad either. T Natarajan should hold on to his place after a decent performance in the previous match against GL.

Kings XI Punjab likely XI: Glenn Maxwell (c), Hashim Amla, Manan Vohra, Shaun Marsh, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Akshar Patel, Darren Sammy/Marcus Stoinis, Mohit Sharma, KC Cariappa, T Natarajan, Sandeep Sharma

We are now heading towards the business end of the tournament and SRH will not want to experiment with their starting XI anymore. Sidharth Kaul had a good run in the team, but conceded 45 runs from three overs in the previous match to hand Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) a win in SRH s last-completed match. SRH will be keen on getting back the experienced Ashish Nehra back in his place. Also it will not be a bad idea to recall Barinder Sran, who has played just one match in the tournament in place of Mohammad Siraj.

Sunrisers Hyderabad likely XI: David Warner (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Moises Henriques, Deepak Hooda, Nanam Ojha (wk), Rashid Khan, Bipul Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, mohammad Siraj/Barinder Sran, Sidharth Kaul/Ashish Nehra.

Head-to-head: SRH have a superior record against KXIP when it comes to their overall head-to-head record. Out of the nine matches these two have played against each other, SRH have won seven. SRH are also undefeated in Mohali. They have won all the three matches against KXIP at this venue. Last time KXIP beat SRH was back in IPL 2014 at Hyderabad, when KXIP had successfully chased down 206.

Prediction: Both teams have explosive batsmen and we could expect a high scoring game. However, it could eventually come down to the bowlers. The side that manages to contain the batsmen will walk out winners. Both sides need to make a change or two going into this match, which is going to be very crucial, given the stage of the tournament we are in.
